Celebrate Philippine Independence in pure style. Canada Philippine Fashion Week proudly presents “An Evening with Jose Rizal” – a tribute to Jose Rizal through fashion, film and exhibit at the Tiff Bell Lightbox Theatre. The evening includes “The Fashion Statement of Jose Rizal” Exhibit, a display of personal belongings and clothing worn by the Philippine National hero. It will also include the Canadian Premiere of the newest docu film, Jose Rizal, the First Hero, and a special Q&A Session with its producers, cast and crew. It will also feature a Rizalian-inspired fashion show, by the film’s costume designer, Philippine fashion designer, John Ablaza.

CPFW’s Gala Premiere: Philippine Fashion’s Biggest Night will be held on Friday June 14, 2013 at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall, home to the most world-renowned events. Ranging from conceptual fashion to haute couture, CPFW brings to the catwalk the very best avant-garde and cutting edge creations, as well as iconic masterpieces of Filipino designers from Canada and the Philippines. The event will also showcase some of the most unique Filipino Fashion, Art, Culture, and Multimedia exhibits and installations ever seen in Canada, including the special Mangyan Tribes Exhibit.

PROJECT TERNO

Canada Philippine Fashion Week has challenged Canada’s Top Designers to create their own version of the Filipino Terno, one of the most haute couture national costumes in the world. Armed with a a full creative brief and the history of the Terno – the challenge is to design a Temo based on the designer’s brand and philosophy, with no-holds barred rules on the use of materials, fabrics or approach.


MANGYAN TRIBES EXHIBIT

Canada Philippine Fashion Week is proud to present a special “Mangyan Tribes” Exhibit, to be curated by Philippine Fashion Designer John Ablaza – featuring the fabrics, beadwork, art and handiwork unique to the indigenous inhabitants of Mindoro, Philippines, the Mangyan Peoples. This unique and beautiful exhibit, is endorsed and blessed by Dona Bea Zobel de Ayala, also known as the “Mother of the Mangyans”. It will be held at the Roy Thomson Hall on June 14th, 2013.
